Smooth Criminal

"Nobody should judge you because of your eyes. IT's not like you can help it or anything. Besides, I love the color red," Brandy said before she realized that sounded like she liked him or something.

Her comment only made Gilbert grin more.
"Of course you do." he chimed, slipping a hand under his shirt before pulling it back out and seeing blood on it.
"Oh look more red. Any bandages?" Gilbert asked.

"Oh my god, what happened?!" Brandy shrieked a little too loudly. She quickly covered her mouth. "Uh, yeah, I'll be right back."

Gilbert frowned as Brandy ran back into the house and sighed, pulling off his shirt to examine the cut more. It wasn't too bad, or he'd seen worse, his skin was covered with scars many different shapes and sizes.

Brandy came back with the first aid kit. She knew that cut needed to be cleaned, but wasn't sure Gilbert would let her clean it. "Look, I need to clean it so it won't be infected," she said.

Gilbert shrugged and sat down on the steps of the shed so Brandy could reach his chest. While he was down, he looked at his arms, counting the numerous scars. 17, both arms comined..

Brandy didn't want to ask why he had all those scars, because she was afraid he would get angry at her. She just cleaned the cut and properly bandaged it.

"Thanks.." gilbert said, standing up again and pulling on his thin tanktop, Gilbird chirping quietly in his ear, making the albino chuckle.

"Does that bird have a name?" Brandy asked curiously.

Gilbert looked from Gilbird to Brandy and smirked.
"Gilbird." He said puffing his chest out proudly.

"I'm guessing you did that on purpose, huh?" Brandy asked, amused.

"Kind of." Gilbert said with a laugh, not bothering to mention the bird acted a lot like himself. "What district is this?" He asked.

"13. Why?" Brandy asked.

Gilbert groaned in frustration. Damnit! So far from the capitol.. He thought angrily.
"Oh."

"What's the matter? Are you far away from somewhere you need to be? I'm sorry I'm asking all these questions," Brandy said as she ran her fingers through her short dark red hair.

"It's alright..and yeah. I'm..a ways." Gilbert said with a sigh, loooking up at the sky.

"I have to go to the capitol today. Well, to that district. I have to turn in some paperwork for my aunt, so if where you need to go is on the way, you could come with me if you'd like. I don't know," said Brandy.

Gilbert's eyes brightened.
"Perfect.." He chimed, smirking.

"Okay, well I'm going to go get some things and I'll be right back," Brandy said. She got Bart and her small leather black bag. She filled the bag with some bread, cheese, her pocket knife, mini first aid kit, and the paperwork. She got her canteen and filled it with water. Brandy said goodbye to her aunt, and headed back outside.

Gilbert trailed after her, keeping his head down and avoiding eye contact. There was no doubt his picture was already all over the 6:oo, a news network that went out to all the districts.

"Come on, let's go to the forest. I hate it when an officer sees you and questions you," Brandy said as she headed towards the shadows.

"Ya, okay." Gilbert said with a nod, hurrying after Brandy.

"Tell me Gilbert, have you ever been in love?" Brandy asked.

Gilbert thought for a moment.
"No. But i was assigned a mate." He answered honestly.

"Well, we all are. But did you love her?" Brandy asked.
